Hello!

I've just moved here several weeks ago (and love it:). But I've been struggling with some kind of cold/flu for some days now and it seems that the flu might win :(

So can anyone recommend a GP in the greater Davis Sq. area?

I go to Family Practice Group (through Mount Auburn) in Arlington and have been satisfied. I've Dr. Altman and Heather Becker (a licensed physician's assistant) each twice and would feel comfortable recommending either of them, particularly Dr. Altman. The office is on Mill St., just off Mass Ave., an easy ride on the 77 if you have to go by public transportation. I know they accept Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance.

I really like Somerville Family Practice, on Broadway near the intersection with Simpson (not far from Davis walking). They're really nice and can usually fit you in the day you call. I see Dr. Fishman there, but I've also seen two of the NPs and they're all great. They're at (617) 628-2160.

Seconded; I've been a DSFP patient for many years and have been quite happy with them. (Happy enough that I still go there despite now being several T stops away.)

Do you recommend the place in general, or just that one doctor? I think I will be looking for a new GP soon (I can't get an appointment with my current one inside of 6 months!) and definitely respect your opinion on this matter.

Yes, I recomend the Dr. too. I don't have experience with anyone else in the practice reall (except the NP lady). He's mellow and puts up with my "alternativeness".

Atlantic Health Care, above the Au Bon Pain. Dr. Manto is excellent, smart, on top of things, and practical. He explains things well, too.
