Sabertooth Vegan Bakery

Sabertooth Vegan Bakery in Ball Square posted this morning on instagram and facebook that they were going on a "permanent vacation". The end date isn't firm but likely in the next two weeks. The facebook post is here: https://www.facebook.com/sabertoothbakery?_rdr=p None of the posts mention Taco Party closing, so I am assuming they will stay in the space.

I didn't even know they existed. Perhaps they needed better advertising or promotion. They were sharing the space with Taco Party?

Yes, the two businesses opened the storefront together. I agree that the signage is a bit complicated - Taco Party has a large sign above the store, but the doughnut information is in lettering on the window. (This is all from memory, so my apologies if I'm getting this slightly wrong.) But it was always fun to invite people to go and get "vegan tacos and donuts", and they were always excited after the initial incredulity at the combination.

Their signage was unfortunately very difficult to see and read on the window of Taco Party, and they were only open after 11am, so they were in the weird position of being an afternoon-only vegan donut shop inside a vegan taco place. I enjoyed the flavors of their unique donuts the few times I tried them.

I only tried an unusual flavor as a day-old on-sale donut and wasn't that impressed. Maybe I should try the fresh ones before the opportunity vanishes.

While I enjoyed the flavor of the few I've tried, I wasn't a fan of the texture -- they aren't like cakey donuts, they're quite dense and taste like half-baked dough, with a sort of wet, grainy texture. They're interesting, but I can't imagine trying one and saying "gosh! You should open a store to sell these!"

the dense texture was what did not grab me about the day old ones. Although I could see the math being different if you are actually vegan and can't also choose from any old donut place for a donut fix. On the other hand, Union Square also makes an appealing vegan donut, I hear.
