The email below the cut was sent to Davis Square business owners late yesterday.  There is necessary utility infrastructure work to be done by Eversource in support of the grocery tenant coming in to 240 Elm St.  DPW was able to negotiate a schedule that will also allow water main work to be done in the same area, to avoid having to rip up the roadway twice in that spot. Work will begin this evening (5/24/16) at 6:00 PM and is scheduled to be completed by Thursday morningFriday by noon.Dear Davis Sq. Business Owners:

This email is to inform you of work being done this week on two separate projects in the vicinity of 240 Elm St.

6:00 PM Tuesday to approximately 6:00 AM Wednesday morning:Eversource will be on site conducting necessary utility work that is expected to impact the sidewalk and one travel lane (right lane) in front of 240 Elm St. Noise impacts will be reduced after 12 a.m.; however, crews will continue to work until the beginning of the Wednesday morning commute. This work will not be conducted during the business day. No detours or traffic delays are expected. (Work will continue on Wednesday site. Please see below.)

10:00 AM Wednesday morning: Contractors will  be on site (240 Elm St) to conduct water main repairs. During this work, the parking and the right vehicle travel lane immediately in front of 240 Elm St. will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians.

6:00 PM Wednesday to 6:00 AM Thursday morning: (Continuation ofTuesday night’s utility work) Eversource will be on site conducting necessary utility work that is expected to impact the sidewalk and one travel lane (right lane) in front of 240 Elm St. Noise impacts will be reduced after 12 a.m.; however, crews will continue to work until the beginning of the Wednesdaymorning commute. This work will not be conducted during the business day. No detours or traffic delays are expected.

During all work, Somerville Police will be on site to assist with traffic management and safety.
