...right in front of my apartment at the dead end of Highland Road.

I had no idea why there were at least three police SUVs parked there w/their blue lights on as I came walking down from Highland Ave., until I saw the two guys in handcuffs and the rather large piles of packages, mostly from Amazon, piled up on the sidewalk in front of my place; after the (apparent) perps were hauled away, I asked the remaining cops if that was what was up, and they confirmed it.  So, if you were expecting a package and it hasn't shown up yet, perhaps a trip to the Somerville PD may be in order?...

Thanks for posting this! I did have a package go missing a few days ago so I'll check with somerville pd tomorrow. I kinda think it could have been delivered to the wrong place or something else since most packages at my place get delivered to the inside porch but sometimes delivery people just let it on the steps without realizing the door to the porch is unlocked as its a common door. Maybe this ring of people picked it up in that case. It would be nice to know what happened to it.

I feel that Amazon delivery people are less careful about tucking things out of sight (in my case, behind my solid porch railing) than UPS and FedEx people. Though if the thieves are following the delivery trucks, as they sometimes do, rather than just cruising looking for packages, that won't help a lot.

I hope everyone gets their packages.

My tenants have experienced package thefts for the first time in the 12 years I've owned that place. I haven't experienced any at my house, also in Somerville, but I work from home.

I've told tenants to contact police, and I've considered doing a stakeout, but not sure that is the best for my safety, I guess I could just follow the person and get their license #.
