Where are local ice skating rinks?

Ones with sharpening services, walls to hold onto, and that don't charge a fee to let you in are better, but any local ones that you know of are helpful.

Besides the sidewalks, I mean (sheesh, don't people have sand or salt?).

Frog Pond on Boston Common is pretty popular.

The state Dept. of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) has an indoor one on Somerville Avenue in Conway Park, about a half mile east of Porter Square. It has only limited hours for public skating. This page lists all DCR rinks. There's another one in East Cambridge, near Lechmere, as well as others in Arlington, Medford, and various parts of Boston.

The Charles Hotel in Harvard Square has a public outdoor rink.

Evidently, they don't. Welcome to Somerville.
