City needs to shovel its sidewalks, too

The following is an e-mail I just sent to Alderman Rebekah Gewirtz and cc'd to Denise Provost:
Hi, Rebekah! I used to complain about this to Jack Connolly all the time, now
it's your turn...
The city has not plowed the sidewalk on Day Street next to the municipal parking
lot. This sidewalk is heavily used, and when it is not plowed, people have
to walk in the street.
Since the city requires private property owners to shovel sidewalks, it also
sets a bad example when it leaves its own sidewalks unplowed.

Date: 2006-02-14 01:04 am (UTC)I honestly don't understand the thought process of the DPW, they go insane plowing the streets, but the sidewalks are left completely covered. It's like they want to encourage people to drive their cars on days like today. The Sacramento Street underpass was incredibly dangerous.
