City needs to shovel its sidewalks, too

The following is an e-mail I just sent to Alderman Rebekah Gewirtz and cc'd to Denise Provost:

Hi, Rebekah! I used to complain about this to Jack Connolly all the time, now
it's your turn...

The city has not plowed the sidewalk on Day Street next to the municipal parking
lot. This sidewalk is heavily used, and when it is not plowed, people have
to walk in the street.

Since the city requires private property owners to shovel sidewalks, it also
sets a bad example when it leaves its own sidewalks unplowed.

Even though she has just been elected to the state legislature, Denise Provost is still an Alderman-at-Large and will remain one until she resigns. I don't know when she plans to do that, but it won't be for at least a few months. Until then, she'll hold both offices simultaneously.

My understanding is that she plans to hold off on resigning as Adlerman-at-Large until she can do so without forcing yet another special election.

(because you just know someone on the School Committee will win, and we'll have to have another election to replace them, etc.)
