Hi---Longtime lurker of this LJ community, first-time poster! I'm one of the co-owners of Magpie in Davis Square. Please let me know if the following announcement isn't appropriate for this forum. Local art group The Miracle Five have a show hanging in Davis Square coffee shoppe, Diesel and have been kind enough to deck out the Magpie front window, as well. They've done a wonderful job and we're psyched to support this super-talented group!

To celebrate both shows, Magpie will be having a reception on Thursday, February 23 (6:00 - 8:00pm). Stop by to gawk at our new window display, eat some snacks, and meet some people. Then, head over to Diesel, get some coffee, and take in their installation there.

I'm a fan of Magpie (love the retro-50's kitsch!) and am happy to see you promoting the opening for The Miracle Five!

Still...Would you be able to put your image behind an lj-cut? This group was once swamped by band promotions with large images, and I'd prefer not to start moving in that direction. Thanks!

I've seen the art in Diesel and have really enjoyed it, particularly the giant fuzzy burritos.

Yes, please do! We definitely have a lot of similar types of things as Pluto: greeting cards, gifts, trinkets, etc. But we have more in the way of indie designed merchandise (like handbags, t-shirts)--and a huge percentage of our stuff is handmade and/or local.

There's an error in the URL given in the main entry; on a guess I'd speculate that LJ tried to create it from a hostname given within the text of the entry, or that the author of the entry just formatted the tag wrong.

The problem is that your original link isn't specifying the protocol.

<a href="www.magpie-store.com"> isn't going to work - the browser interprets that as a reference to another page in the current context, so the full URL it ends up building is relative to the LJ page.

You need to fully specify the hostname to get it off LJ:

Hi, do you have flyers and/or business cards for The Magpie? If so, I would be happy to have you disperse some at the bi-monthly alternative rock shows that I am hosting at The Skybar in Somerville, or even host a vending table to sell some of your wares at the show. Let me know:
