Nearby places to stay?

I have some relatives and pseudo relatives coming into town who don't want to crash here. Where would you suggest putting folks up? Relatively inexpensive, but also not hard to find.

Sort of. You can take the #77 to the St. John's Church stop, and walk up Dover Street to Davis Square.

Or you can just walk from the hotel, which is what I recommend. Walk up Mass. Ave. to Cameron Avenue, then up the bike path to Davis.

I consider that "to Davis square" :). At least, that's how I typically bus to Davis (from a bit farther inside of Arlington).

Sure, but an out-of-town visitor would never know to do this. There are no signs on Mass. Ave. showing how to walk to Davis Square.
