AIEEE!! This just in from MBTA.com:

SERVICE ALERT: Due to electrical problems, Davis Station will be closed from the start of service on Tuesday April 4, 2006 and will remain closed until repairs are made. Supplemental bus service will run Davis to Porter. Please see Transit Updates for more information.

Was that mostly waiting time? It should only take 3 minutes to drive from Davis to Porter.

That was time on the bus, much of it spent inching along Mass Ave within sight of Porter.

Strange they would even use Mass. Ave. The 3-minute way to drive is Elm Street to White Street to Porter Square.

Can buses make it down White Street?

Yep. A few weeks ago, I was on an 87 bus whose driver forgot to turn from Somerville Avenue onto Elm Street. I suggested that the driver turn right onto White Street and take that up to Elm, and he did. Some cars trying to go the other way had to back out, but we made it just fine.
