Has anyone ever taken their sewing machine to the Singer store in Davis for repairs? My sewing machine just stopped running and my projects are slowly piling up. But I'm a girl on a budget. Can anyone give me reviews of their service and/or a general price range for sewing machine repairs?

Thanks!

I haven't used them myself. One friend had a very bad review of it; apparently they did a poor job, took way too long, and costed too much. Another friend got it reasonably well tuned up, but they left the needle in the wrong position (all the way to the left, not center), and they attached stickers to the case. The plastic case. From the 50s. Also, and I don't know if this is something they should have caught, but it doesn't always start slow when you press the pedal.

I would not take my machine there. I haven't determined where to take mine yet. Maybe sears.

I gave up looking for affordable repair places and just bought another machine on CraigsList. Brand new in the box, never used (it was an unwanted wedding gift) for $50. They even brought it to my house.

What model is your Singer? I can fix a lot of stuff as long as it's older. I'm right in Davis but I'm out of town for the next two weeks.

i've used them, they were good. they took a while but they did it for free & helped a lot. it was free cause it was still under warranty.

I never actually got my machine fixed there because it was soooo expensive. I had a tiny little presenting problem (my thread kept bunching up weird) and they told me that my machine was out of alignment and they were going to charge me $80 to do an alignment. In talking to them, the guy said that my needle had been loose because it hadn't been screwed in tightly enough. Seeing as how I had only replaced the needle the day before, I said, no thanks, came home and tightened it and have had no problems. In short, I kind of felt like (a) they were trying to rip me off and (b) that even if I had needed the repair it was WAY expensive. Plus, in nearly three years of stopping in there, I still feel that the staff are NEVER friendly.
