Nonresident Parking
Jun. 1st, 2006 07:58 pmSo, my car has to go in to the shop for some major work. I'm taking it to a mechanic I trust down by my folks. Unfortunately, this means I need to swap cars with my dad for 3 weeks or so. Obviously, his car isn't going to have my resident parking sticker. I thought at first that I'd just slap my visitor's permit on it, but I've heard you can only use that for 2 or 3 consecutive days or something like that, and I need to do it for 3 weeks.
Way Back When, I used to have a car of my own with out of state plates, so couldn't get a sticker. I used to park down on Park Ave between Beacon and Somerville, where the parking doesn't require a resident's permit. However, that was when I used to live between Porter and Harvard, and Park was relatively convenient.
So, I'm looking for suggestions. Does anybody know (safe) streets near Davis that don't require resident's permits? I'm between College & Willow near Morrison Ave., so ideally I'd be looking for something on that side of the square, closer to me than Park (which is, well, far).
Any and all tips/hints/suggestions are appreciated!

Date: 2006-06-02 02:17 pm (UTC)I had a rental car for 2 weeks for work, and they charged me $10 to get a month-long pass to park on the street in front of my house. I just had to bring the rental car agreement; I am not sure what proof they will make you bring for your dad's car.
One of my friends had her brother's car for a while, and she got a parking pass from the office. You should probably call and find out what information they need to give you a month pass.
