Back in May, I reported that Ristorante Limoncello would open in the former Buck-a-Book space, after watching their presentation at a Davis Square Task Force meeting.

Unfortunately, they have now withdrawn the application that they had pending before the Planning Board. I first found out from Planning Board minutes that were e-mailed to me, and I just confirmed it with a phone call to their attorney, Richard DiGirolamo. He said that the withdrawal was "for business reasons" and was not because of any negative reaction from the neighborhood or the city. In fact, he told me that he had received many phone calls from people who were sorry to hear of this news.

The only good thing that could come of this is possibly a new location for Mr. Crepe or for the Someday Cafe. But that may depend on the landlord finally realizing that he is trying to charge too high a rent.

Here we go again. I knew this was going to happen. Now we'll end up with a bank or a crappy insurance company taking the space.

Maybe Trader Joes will reconsider and save us having to drive to Arlington for a decent grocery store. I Just hope it doesn't go to a Burger King or some other blue collar type place that'll lower the tone of the neighborhood.

uh

I'm gonna have to call "troll" on the "blue collar type place" comment. Quit it.

I disagree with using the term "blue collar" that way, but I'd rather not have another fast food restaurant in the square.

"fast food" as in massive fast food chain that is everywhere else already and really doesn't need to be here.

I agree with that. And along the same lines, we don't need to turn into the New Harvard Square, brought to you by Abercrombie & Fitch.

Did someone say Trader Joe? Man, that would be amazing.

I have heard that a trader Joe is moving in to Whole Food territory out at Fresh Pond.
