Back in May, I reported that Ristorante Limoncello would open in the former Buck-a-Book space, after watching their presentation at a Davis Square Task Force meeting.
Unfortunately, they have now withdrawn the application that they had pending before the Planning Board. I first found out from Planning Board minutes that were e-mailed to me, and I just confirmed it with a phone call to their attorney, Richard DiGirolamo. He said that the withdrawal was "for business reasons" and was not because of any negative reaction from the neighborhood or the city. In fact, he told me that he had received many phone calls from people who were sorry to hear of this news.
The only good thing that could come of this is possibly a new location for Mr. Crepe or for the Someday Cafe. But that may depend on the landlord finally realizing that he is trying to charge too high a rent.
