Disposing of a box spring

Will Somerville trash pickup take a queen-size box spring? If not, what are my options? I do have a spiffy new circular saw I got at Home Despot this week...maybe I should reduce it in size a bit?

This page of the city website lists the appliances for which you must pay a $20 disposal fee:

Furniture, and box springs and mattresses in particular, is not on that list, so I would assume you could leave it on the curb and that would be that. Or you could call 311 (from a landline phone, or call the city at (617) 625-6600) during business hours and ask them for confirmation.

although I agree that saws are totally fun (there is a pile of sawdust on my living room floor right now from the impusive "fixing" of our entertainment center), leaving it in good shape might help it get reused rather than trashed. someone might even pick it up before somerville does. although i guess with the rain this week it'll get ruined anyway.

Shelters sometimes want bed frames and box springs if they are in decent, usable condition.

It's been out in the elements a week now (after not fitting up my staircase), and was in far from prime condition at the start. I think the sweet spot for donation has passed, sadly.

Intentional, I'm afraid. I went to college in Providence, and my fraternity always shopped for our parties at Liquor Despot. I think I picked up the habit there.
