As a reward for my long move up from Pennsylvania, the great Commonwealth of Massachusetts is requiring me to get my car registered and insured... and while I'm more than satisfied with my current insurance company, they informed me today that they won't even bother insuring cars here in MA.
It looks like I'll need to pursue a different route for this -- can anyone recommend a good local insurance agent?

Date: 2006-10-17 02:11 am (UTC)1) If you have access to USAA they are the absolute cheapest you'll get and they are pretty awesome.
2) Everything else pretty much costs the same between insurance companies because I think insurance prices are regulated by MA (agents from two different insurance companies told me this.)
3) Lack of access to #1 and my preference for a company I heard of brought me down to Liberty Mutual and Met Life since they were the only two companies I had heard of before. People at my office strongly recommended against Liberty Mutual. One of the stories I heard involved Liberty Mutual charging someone 6 months' insurance past the date they had canceled their insurance with Liberty Mutual because they didn't give so-many-months notice ahead of time before switching carriers. A total rip-off. Similarly weird and expensive 'hidden rules' revealed by co-workers' stories led me to go with Met Life and so far so good.
