Where can one drop off spare clothing in the Davis area? Donations, consignment (other than Poor Little Rich Girl, and bonus points if the place doesn't require an appointment 4 months down the line), etc?

The Goodwill on Elm Street takes donations. No limits on when you can drop them off as far as I know. I've even left stuff out front early in the morning before they open.

They will write up a slip for a tax-deduction, if you want one, as well.

As someone who's walked past many an open donation that was ravaged by curious folks at the Goodwill's interest, I think it'd be more appropriate to donate when they are open and their staff can place them in the appropriate area instead of having to pick them up from the sidewalk later.

Ah, but when you have carfuls of stuff, it is easiest to drive over when one can park in front. When I've had just a few things I've brought them when they are open. But when I was moving and had way too much stuff to give away, it seemed the better choice to drop it off when I could (about 8:30 am, so it's not like the stuff sat there for hours and hours) than to not drop it off at all (which would probably have been what would've happened if I'd limited myself to trying to go only during store hours.)

If you want easier parking, the Salvation Army on Broadway (in Magoun Sq) has a parking lot...you can back right up to the donation trailer.

They really really don't want you to do that. It makes the place look terrible and also encourages random people to steal what you donate. Please donate when they are open.
