Are there any local insurance agencies that can help me out with some renter's insurance? Any recommendations? Thanks!

I get mine from former Alderman Jack Connolly, whose office is just north of the T station on College Avenue.

Jack was great. It was easy to get signed up and he didn't have issues with my fiancee and I's unmarried but cohabiting status like USAA, our car insurance, did.

I'm a big fan of Provider Insurance Group (http://www.providerig.com/), going through their Belmont office. Of course my insurance agent is my cousin, so that's a bit nepotistic of me.

One possibility is to ask your landlord which company they use for property insurance; that company may also offer renter's insurance, and they'll have all the information on the building already which can save you a ton of paperwork.
