Did it ever occur to you that there are a lot of people who cannot afford to pay the exorbitant rent charged in areas within walking distance of the T?

Word.

I recently bought a house near Ball Square, but I'm not under any illusions that it was my teacher's salary that made that possible. Yay for husbands in the computer field. I have no idea how my coworkers -- many of whom are teachers married to other teachers -- manage.

Oh but see? I can afford the rent in Porter Square because I don't have to pay for gas, insurance, oil changes, tune-ups, tires, and parking tickets. And seriously? My rent hasn't changed since 2000. I think the price of owning a car has. Just saying.
