Several months ago I was asking in here for salons that people would advise, and ended up going to Salon Luna. Now, while they did an awesome red for my color, the first cut I had there was ...okay, but not anything special. The second time....well, I don't recommend Diana (I think it was Diana). I had a picture, told her what I wanted, and have abut three inches LESS hair than I asked for in something that, while it looks good, is not remotely what I wanted or showed her.

So I'm in the market for another new hair salon. My hair is now far shorter than I want it, so if anyone has recommendations for a place/person that is also good at helping hair grow out gracefully, I'd love to hear about it/them! In general, looking for someplace that's nearby (I do have a car though), not overpriced, does great color (red, specifically), and people who will LISTEN.

Slightly more specfically, Salonika just moved in down the block from me. I can't find many reviews online about them, so does anyone have one they can offer on that place?

I go to Linda (there may still be two Linda's, and mine is the one with the tattoos) and she gives brilliant razor cuts.

I used to go to the Linda with tattoos for many years. She's good; I only stopped going once I moved off the Red Line. I once used the other Linda at her old place in Central Square; she was an amazing listener in terms of what I was looking for.

Linda the Tattoed Lady is Linda Kirk and I've been quite happy with her as well. I don't really like chatting when I get my hair cut and she's fine with that, and she's fine with conversation if I do feel like practicing my small talk. She's pricey though - it's $45 or $50 for the cut.

PS: I've no idea what kind of haircut I get. Let's just say a bad stylist makes me look like Farrah Fawcett and a good one girls me thick wavy hair.

I also go to Linda Kirk and love her. I've also gotten great cuts there from Tarlie at times when Linda wasn't available and my hair was getting shaggy. They've always grown out nicely - it's my own inability to deal with the length that makes me get 'em cut asap at a certain point, not that the cuts don' grow out well.

I think at this point I'd trust any JJ stylist with my hair.
