Seen this morning from the Elm Street sidewalk, inside the window of Starbucks:

A laptop bearing a bumper sticker reading:

Oh come on now, he was buying his coffee at his LOCAL Starbucks instead of ordering online! (ha)

And I'm sure that was a locally-made laptop!

Hypocrisy? In Starbucks?

Never. How dare you suggest such a thing?

Oh, I'm sure the company is above reproach, but they really need to develop a classier, more elitist attitude if they want to keep out the riff-raff.

Well, they got the plastic for it out of the Charles, does that count?

Well, I've not stepped foot in Diesel since the bathroom stench made me puke one night about a year ago, so I do often pick up iced coffee at Starbucks. Doesn't hurt that I like the burned flavor in my iced beverages for some sick reason.

Keeping it local, though, Mr. Crepe has some of the best coffee I've had in a long time - they use Rao's, a local coffee company that does just about everything right.

That's why I love the Diesel. So refreshingly *free* of elitism! [/snark]

amen on all this. I moved to Davis after spending my last years in college in Amherst and really missed Rao's -- and then Mr. Crepe came along and life is so much better now :)

I've honestly never been in a coffee shop when Denis Leary's rant about "coffee-flavored coffee" didn't instantly trigger, to be honest.

that amuses me. Although, I also have a Mac sticker on my old Gateway laptop.

I shall keep my mouth shut on the subject, except to nod silently and giggle.

yep; huge fan of Mr. Crepe coffee. And I happily visit Starbucks vs. the Diesel - mostly to stop in and grab an iced tea. In terms of local, I'm much more about Sherman in Union Square.

Wow...that's actually cheaper than other places I've been to, by a buck per hour.

Was the milk in his coffee skim? Maybe it said "Buy Lo Cal"

Does Mr. Crepe's coffee have the burnt flavour? I would so love to find a place besides Dunkin' Donuts (love it or hate it) that doesn't taste burnt EVERY TIME I have it.

No, not at all. Mr. Crepe's coffee is smoooooooooth. I like it as well as the Starbuck's. Depends on my mood.

Cool. :) I'm not a Starbucks fan except for the stuff with so much other crap in it that it's more dessert than coffee. Smooth is good. Bold can still be smooth.
