I just wanted to thank everyone who offered thoughts and such the other day when I was looking for some drug-free emergency counseling.
I mostly was looking for something like the Gesundheit Institute, or possibly something like a Buddhist retreat (with a mental health focus) or something similar. I didn't find anything like that around here (though it may still exist!), but I did find a couple of people who came to my rescue and offered me some of the safety and compassion and support that I needed. And in the end, I had much more fun and the "therapy" was probably infinitely more effective than any hospital could have provided (I'm guessing)!
And I'm feeling much, much better now. Really good, in fact. My needs weren't that difficult to meet, they were just lacking in a really catastrophic way all of a sudden, and needed immediate and emergency attention.
So yeah, thanks!

Date: 2007-09-18 02:04 am (UTC)Kripalu is a good place to go for inner questing and yoga. They have different programs that may address the atmosphere you are questing for. they also have ways you can work a bit during your stay to help pay for it.
Although I was silent on your last post, my thoughts were with you all weekend. I just did not have information for you. Thank you for the update.

Buddhist meditation centers- local!
Date: 2007-09-18 01:02 pm (UTC)Another place closer than Kripalu (also awesome) is the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA. They are doing their long retreat (three months) right now, but other parts of the year feature weekend or weeklong retreats of all varieties. I went to one this past March that totally changed my life. (P.S. I am a person who struggles with mental illness). www.dharma.org
Good luck- and I'm glad you are feeling better!
