Where do people go to shoot hoops when it's cold and dark?

I'm sure there are local gyms or athletic clubs that offer indoor basketball courts, I'm just having trouble finding them. I'm not really looking to join a pick-up game as much as practice my nascent jump shot...

Oh, and I have wheels, so distance isn't a great problem.

The Central Square Y has a couple of courts, including the infamous Pit, where there's an active (in many respects) lunchtime pickup game. If you just want to shoot by yourself, the upstairs gym is usually pretty quiet around midday (or at least it was a couple-three years ago, when I was playing more hoop).

There's also the Boys/Girls Club out in Arlington, but they have very limited open time in their gym....but if you don't mind doing your shooting at, like, 7am, it might work for you.

The Chinatown Y in Boston has very nice courts and an excellent lunchtime game.

And if you're willing to drive and spend big bucks, Healthpoint out in Waltham has an exact duplicate of the Celtics' practice court. I got to shoot alongside M.L. Carr there a couple years ago; he was draining 3-pointers like someone tossing crumpled paper into a trash can.

I used to play at Hayden Gymnasium in Lexington at lunch. The lunchtime games were fantastic and I think it was only $80 for a 9 month membership or so (Closed during summer for afternoon programs for kids).

There's a YMCA in Woburn too, which I believe may have been renovated recently. (of course, I say that as a person who used to take swimming lessons there as a small child. So "recently" is probably a relative term)

You might also find out if there's a school near you that might have a gym available at certain times.

I 2nd the Central Sq Y and "the Pit." It was the only place I could find a full court run in the area when the Winter arrives. A few years ago I was a regular for after work games. We were usually relegated to the pit while the after school programs and yoga classes got the nice courts upstairs, but the pit was always open. Now that I don't work in Central, I can't find a good indoor court close to Davis.
