BSC - any insider info on when it opens & $

Would anyone have any insider news @ when BSC is going to open? The site says soon but that can mean "soon..."

Also wondering @ costs - their site says nothing (I hate that - Bally's does the same thing). Tired of Bally's and looking to switch.

From what I've heard from friends who are members: You can usually wrangle $50/mo if you sign a 2-year commitment or around $70 with a 6-month commitment.

They often have "no joining fee" specials through places of work or other specials...

I'm assuming it will be roughly the same cost for Davis.

I'm a BSC member, and it's about $60/mo, so it's not cheap, but the money I get back from my health insurance amounts to 3 months worth per year, so it's not heinous. I can't wait for the Davis one to open, since there is a much greater chance I will go often enough to not feel guilty about spending so much.

It is way less skanky than Bally's. It's always clean and pleasant to go to. At Bally's, even though it was somewhat cheaper, I always felt like they were trying to bleed me dry, or get me to sign my life away. You may want to look into what you have to do to get out of your Bally's contract. The reason I left Bally's was that they were not going to let me renew my year-to-year contract, and were going to make me sign something that required a $250 termination fee that I could only avoid by moving to a place at least 20 miles away from a Bally's. That was 7 years ago, though.

They had a table out after the Somerville Homeless run a few weeks ago. If I recall correctly, their rep told me that they would begin pre-sales of memberships at the end of October (though I haven't seen any indication of that) and that they would officially open at the beginning of December. When I had asked last year, they had told me fall of 2007, so I think they're not too far off. I definitely plan on signing up given its location.

The Watertown BSC offered "charter memberships" for the first few months it was open. I don't know how much it was, but I know people who took them up on it and are happy with it. So ask for something like that as soon as they open.

It is SO lame that these places don't publish prices. Went through this with Bally's. Just ugh. At least at BSC you get a towel (nod to Douglas Adams).

it opens dec 15th (ish) i joined yesterday. they are offering charter memberships for 55 locked in for a year - the normal cost is 70 (i think) thye also waive the initial fee of 150.00 - you pay some processing fee of 59.00 now and then pay nothing until 1/1/08. Granted the club isn't open yet, but you can use any other until it is with the 59.00 payment.

I joined through Georgia who i recommend - she came through via the watertown club - she is really nice and not at all pushy. I someone elses three year old with me and i swear she paid more attention to her then me - it was nice - no oversell. her number is 617-733-3193
