Great Day Spa?

What is your favorite day spa in the general area? Car-required is fine.

Some awesome friends want to give me a gift certificate and asked where it should be for, but I can't really offer a suggestion as I haven't been to many places in the area. Ideally, I'm looking for a place that has both some variety of bodywork as well as facials. Reasonable prices are a bonus, too. (They mentioned Bella Sante in Lexington and on Newbury St, but their prices are astronomical. I wonder if maybe there are places with less ritzy addresses but still great service?)

Skin & Body Works is, afaict, more on the skincare side. I'm not sure if they do massage. And I think MTW is just massage.

Sure. I also noticed a new place near the new Chipotle Burrito Place (maybe upstairs) on Elm that says "day spa" which might be worth checking out. Sorry for the vagueness!

Yep, I know the one you mean. They don't even have prices on their web site, which leads me to assume the worst.

Believe me, if I could afford to just try them all, I would, but I can't, hence asking for recs from those who have. :)

I really liked Pyara (http://www.pyaraaveda.com/) in Harvard Square (I would still go there if I still lived in Boston). I have had a facial there and it was heavenly. I also had my hair cut and colored there often and always had a calm and relaxing time. The prices might be a bit high but not as high as some places I looked at when I was looking to get my facial.

I've gone to BodyRituals in Medford twice and been quite pleased. Wonderful facials. You do have to book reasonably in advance to get the hot stone massage (my fave!) And the prices are reasonable for what you get, IMO.

Breathe is RIGHT in Davis, and it's adorable...I was there once for SpaWeek, and was quite pleased

My birthday was Monday, so it's all been done (Body Rituals, btw :) but yeah, I went to Breathe during Spa Week as well, but was not particularly pleased. It's probably a matter of getting the right person!

oh with the fail that has been haunting my day! But good! I usually go to BR as well (sucker for the pumpkin facial) and they are so affordable and not at all snotty.
Spa week is like restaurant week-if it's just half assed, well it was cheap (er) right? But if they do well-SOLD!
