Cabinet maker / Carpenter?
Dec. 15th, 2007 08:52 pmHey folks -
I'm looking for a nicely made platform bed (with drawers underneath). What I have in mind is fairly simple but I'd like it to be well made and most of what I find in stores is not exactly what I want.
Anyone know of a good local carpenter, cabinet maker? Or a store that sells made to order stuff?

As for carpenters/cabinet makers, maybe check with the North Bennet Street School? http://nbss.org/
(I've been looking for something similar recently as well, haven't decided what to do yet, custom hadn't occurred to me, though. wonder how price would compare with stores? Let me know if you find out anything good!

Date: 2007-12-16 07:57 pm (UTC)It's a queen-size platform bed. Large storage drawers underneath – one on each side, the entire length of the bed. “Oak” finish on visible parts. The platform is in two pieces - we got it up our awkward staircase. Headboard not included. It's in good condition. (One of the casters has come off the drawers, but that will be easy to reattach when we get the bed disassembled for moving it.)

My mother has a couple of extremely well made couches from him, and he also does custom designs. He's also somewhere around 6'8" tall and very sensitive to the needs of unusually shaped individuals, if that's important to you.
