Hey folks -

I'm looking for a nicely made platform bed (with drawers underneath).  What I have in mind is fairly simple but I'd like it to be well made and most of what I find in stores is not exactly what I want.

Anyone know of a good local carpenter, cabinet maker?  Or a store that sells made to order stuff?

Have you seen the one Bedworks makes?

(I realize this may count in the "seen in stores, not what I want" category,

As for carpenters/cabinet makers, maybe check with the North Bennet Street School? http://nbss.org/

(I've been looking for something similar recently as well, haven't decided what to do yet, custom hadn't occurred to me, though. wonder how price would compare with stores? Let me know if you find out anything good!

I believe Bedworks does offer some customization.

There's also someone who posts on the [livejournal.com profile] b0st0n community who's a carpenter and cabinetmaker, but I forget his name and the name of his company. Maybe post there as well?

I have a queen-size platform bed from Bedworks, and I love it. It's nice and sturdy, and the drawers work well.
