It’s a slow, tiresome Monday, so as I approach my 9th year as a Davis Square resident I have some confessions. These are "confessions" because these things make me feel like the bitch I am! My list goes to 11.

Do you have any confessions? Perhaps later in the week I’ll feel perky and refreshed and post my top 11 loves -though it will be hard to think of only 11.

1. I’ve been secretly rooting for Kick Ass Cupcakes to fail, and I’m boggled that they still survive.
2. While I like McIntyre and Moore in theory, I never use them and won’t miss them.
3. I hate Mike’s, its terrible – even with the cheap beer, I don't get the popularity of this institution - I liked it better when they were crappier inside with the old signs.
4. Chipotle has won my burrito bowl dollars, I never would have seen that coming Anna’s! Anna Anna, please forgive me!
5. While I love Deisel, I’m going less and less now that the same 5 crazy people rotate ownership of the good chairs/couches and NEVER leave.
6. I don’t miss Someday Cafe, I liked it in theory, but it was a dirty filth hole.
7. I don’t miss the junkies in front of share group on Dover St (not that all of them were junkies), but I do miss the times they would interact with the Mormons.
8. I really don’t want to see Sacco’s close, but yet I never give them any business, and I was opposed to the Community Connections Center for no other reason than I thought it was a dumb name.
9. As fiercly opposed as I was to CVS opening, I now shop there all the time.
10. I want all bars except Joshua Tree to get a 2am permit!
11. Even though it’s a lame joke I still find it funny that Store 24 is not open 24 hours, and that Bread and Butter Konvience is, but has  a weird name.

Hah! My commentary:

1) Not only are they surviving -- they're expanding! Get me a Lyndell's cupcake anyday.
3) Mike's is good for cheap drinks and dessert and fries, and is a fun place to watch a game. The pizza without toppings isn't bad either. But the dinners? Wretched.
8) Agreed!

Hurrah for Lyndells!

Why is it I crave a Full Moon Cake the most on Mondays, when they are closed? :(

Not only are they surviving -- they're expanding! Get me a Lyndell's cupcake anyday.

That's what happens when you have a 600% profit margin and a ready clientele of suckers hipsters who will buy them.

Does Lyndell's have any vegan or non-dairy options?

it's a schlep, but herrells in allston and fiores in jp have quite fine vegan cupcakes; herrells in particular are about the same price as kickass cupcakes, but twice the size. and tj's, also in allston, has lots of vegan baked goods other than cupcakes

I can't remember the EXACT details of the year or game, but this is what I'm recalling right now...

Back in 2004, some friends and I hit up Mike's shortly before closing in order to get some take-out pizza so we could watch a late Red Sox playoff game at my friend's house (they must have been on the West Coast). The Yankees were playing in the early game and the game was not in doubt but was still in the 8th inning when the Red Sox game started. The employees at Mike's refused to change the channel to the just-begun Red Sox game because they feared it would draw a crowd. As we waited for our pizza, the doors were locked and we asked nicely again. No.

We haven't returned since. To be honest, I haven't missed the mediocre-at-best food one bit. There really aren't ANY good places in Davis to watch a game, unfortunately.

I watch games at Orleans, usually. They have every sports package, are friendly about putting on your game (especially if you call ahead; they've played non-conference LSU baseball games for me), the bar food is good, and there are 7 TV's.

AAAAAHHHHHHH GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!! OMG, another Tiger fan in Davis!!! Come watch every game!! :) Are you familiar with the LSU Fans in Boston group??

LOL Me and mah roomie are LSU alums living in Davis :) Sadly, I don't have the energy for baseball after football season...

Not exactly sure what group you're referring to, but I'm part of the alumni group that runs www.lsuboston.com. (I mean, I don't run anything but I attend many events...) Are they one and the same? We watch football games at the Baseball Tavern behind Fenway. COME TO THE CRAWFISH BOIL!

Wooooooo!!!!! I love finding fellow Down South friends!

That's the group I mean! I just discovered it RIGHT after the championship game. I'm not a real alum (I went to school up here), but grew up about a mile from campus, and bleed purple and gold. Would they still accept me? When is the crawfish boil?? Oh and I am SO coming to a game a the Baseball Tavern this season!

YAYAYAY for people that know what crawfish are!!! (sorry New Englanders, but I've gotten a lot of blank stares)

The crawfish boil is a week from Saturday. There's payment info on their website... Come wearing purple and gold, and we'll keep you! :)

There's usually a good turnout for the football games. Sometimes, other SEC alums/fans will watch games with us too!

oops! no payment info on the website. They did send an Evite to everyone. If you contact the Stephane at chair at lsuboston dot com, she'll give you the goods.

Boo, can't make the boil, I have to work all freaking day that day. I did see the info on the Facebook page, though, so I can keep up with stuff there. HOORAY! :)

They're open a lot later now than they used to be, and seem to put up gracefully with people who are hanging out watching the end of a late Sox game.
