Sorry [livejournal.com profile] surrealestate, but I'm gonna jump in and create this one. You can do the poll #2.

For the Burritos my personal preference is to just do those places right in Davis Square. If there is a desire to widen it to Teele or Porter, we can do this again.

EDIT: Deleted and reposted, apologies to those who voted already, but you will have to revote.

Anna's is cheaper and closer to me so I probably go there more often, but Boloco is constantly giving me freebies and discounts of various kinds and is generally a less frantic atmosphere.

and Blue Shirt is just made of awesome.

also, when you're a Brookline-er, you're kind of obligated to choose Anna's, so the scales are tipped.

Boloco's BURRITOS aren't as good, but they have more variety... Anna's traditional stuff is better... IMHO

Yeah.

Boloco also gets points from me for more-healthy ingredients, including brown rice + whole wheat tortillas.

I agree with you that none of these places has really great burritos. I once heard someone going into Anna's warning his friends, "Now this place is really authentic, so watch out for how spicy the burritos are," and I had to work to keep a straight face. You can do a lot better in smaller, non-chain places if you're willing to travel beyond the Square, like to Tacos Lupita.

I am loyal to Anna's for their rice. It's the best burrito rice ever.

Also their little tacos al pastor, but those don't count for this poll, do they?

I voted for Anna's, but really I just don't like burritos much. I prefer the sauce-drenched and cheesy Tex-Mex monsters that are enchiladas, myself. Authentic-schmentic, give me the Texas version, with extra Monterey Jack. My heart belongs to Rudy's.

Anna's is yummy cheapness, you can get them to do all beans no rice if you want. Once upon a time you could get them to do meat & veggies, neither rice nor beans, at no extra charge too. (7/10)

Chipotle is hit or miss, (see the thread on free burrito day about serving temperature) and also has a very limited selection if you don't eat meat.... I have some friends who used to be west-coasters who swear by them, so maybe they're still getting quality up to snuff here.... (5/10)

Boloco is great, has a huge variety for both meat eaters and non-, and really not much more expensive than Anna's once you factor in all the freebies. Whether in response to Chipotle or for other reasons they also swapped to all natural meats, or so I see to recall their sign saying... (8/10)

Blue shirt - when they first opened I thought they were great, but then they went through a period of serious hit-or-miss, which I finally tracked down to which staff were on - gave up on them when the good pair of makers/wrappers left. (3/10) (although I could be convinced to give them another try, if people swear they've come back to what they once were)

As a footnote, I'd also love to see how people rate the former burrito places that Davis has had...

Boloco's 'burrito' (their bean-and-rice wrap) is only mediocre at best. Try their buffalo wrap, the caesar salad wrap, or the 'summer' wrap -- much much better.

From this list, My vote and dollars go to Anna's for the following unassailable reasons

1) Horchata. Which everybody knows = street cred.
2) Tacos (or Burrito) Al pastor

Tacos lupita has a better selection of taco fillings and also has great Horchata.
