Hey guys, I checked and couldn't find anything recent in the 'insurance' and 'eye care' tags, so I decided to just post.

I desperately need an eye exam and new glasses, and I'd like to know if any place close to Davis (T or bus-accessible) takes Masshealth? Their site and robot voice on the 800-number was useless.

Thanks all in advance!

Harvard Square Optics, 65 Mount Auburn Street, just behind Harvard Square, (617) 576-0140, has always been awesome to me. They're a funky little shop and can hook you UP if you need some Elvis Costello glasses, but they also have a reasonably-priced selection of modern frames. They've taken every health insurance I've ever had, even some really obscure ones. I started going to them after I got a (ASKDF'ing expensive) pair of glasses at a chain store, then promptly sat on them, and the chain store wouldn't grind my lenses down to fit a new pair of frames. Harvard Square Optics re-ground my lenses, and I've been going there for all my optometric needs- exams and glasses- for five years. The glasses in this userpic came from them, actually.

I work for Masshealth eligibility, and I know that the 1800 customer service number really sucks. But if you wait and speak to a live customer service rep they are supposed to (or should be able to) tell you about all doctors/providers that can provide services under your plan.

Right in Davis

There's a joint right in Davis, on Highland Ave next to the Wainwright Bank...I can't remember the name of the shop or the doctor, but my wife got her glasses from him with her MassHealth.

Gah. I can never remember which bank is where. I'm thinking of the bank on the corner of Highland & College, right in the Square. The one that put up that obnoxious marquee...

That's the Middlesex Federal Savings bank.

If you're talking about Dr. Saragas, his shop has gotten some bad notices here in the past.

hi, Harvard Vanguard can do the eye exam but i find their glasses ridiculously overpriced. have you thought about buying the glasses over the web? as long as you have the prescription is is suppose to be good and the prices are great. try this http://goggles4u.com/index.asp
