New Ball Square Restaurant -- Jumbo's - Now Open

After years of waiting for the Urban Gourmet replacement to emerge and months of the "opening soon" sign at the new place beckoning, it looks like Jumbo's is now open for business.

I have not eaten there, so I can't provide any insight.

Back to the future? Years ago there was a Jumbo Lounge, although I recall that being in Teele Square.

Yup. Jumbo's was in Teele Square. On the same block as the laundromat and Amelia's Kitchen (which was not there at the time).

I believe it became the Teele Square Pub after Jumbo's and that was shut down after a knifing around the Super Bowl in 1994.

I had my first beer in Somerville at Jumbo's. I was 17 years old, and the legal drinking age was 21, but nobody even asked for ID.

Hey, if it's got *good* wings, then I'll welcome them. The wings around here suck. Wing Works in Davis doesn't even use properly plucked chickens, and Wings Over Somerville is nasty.
