I remember someone at a party mentioning in passing that there was a bookstore in Cambridge that also did high-quality custom printed posters. Googling isn't yielding any results. Does this ring a bell for anyone?

If not, can anyone recommend a place in Somerville or Cambridge that will take a PNG or PDF and make it into a poster for you?

For future reference, that's the Central Square T station.

Do you mean a thin-paper poster, or a conference-presentation, thicker paper poster? The latter many full-service copy shops can do.

kinko's will do it as well... i brought them an antique postcard a few years ago, and they did a high-res scan of it and printed it out on high-quality poster paper. it's gorgeous.

Hmm, would Princeton Printing in Davis Square do this? They are on the little plaza next to Starbucks.

As of last winter, Princeton couldn't do this, but intended to add the capability.
