It looks as though they're finally doing some work to the closed Quick Mart on the corner of Highland Avenue and Cedar Street up by O2 Yoga and Cafe Rossini. Does anybody know what they'll be putting in there? A new Quick Mart would be great! =)

Wiffiti got a new feature last week: Screen shots you can see on the web. If you go to wiffiti.com you can see all the currently active screens at the top. Here's the one at Someday:

[thumbnail of wiffiti screen, click for full size]
(click on the thumbnail for a larger image where you can actually read all the text)

Right now these screen shots update about once a minute, so it's almost real time, though I expect as more screens go up the time between screen shot refreshes will go up. Anyway, now you can see what the people at Someday can see. Since you can send messages to the screen from your phone wherever you happen to be, I'm curious if this will lead to "conversation" of sorts between people at Someday and their friends (or strangers?) elsewhere.

I work for the state, and it is infrequent that the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency sends snow emergencies to the network. This morning was one such emergency warning. Therefore, I suggest that you pay careful attention to the expected snow forecast and react accordingly.

Per National Weather Service @ 0800:

Winter is returning. A Nor'easter will be impacting Southern New England Saturday night into Sunday afternoon. Snow should begin along the South Coast late Saturday afternoon, enveloping most of MA be dark. We are expecting 8-15" of snow across MA (lower totals on Cape Cod & the Islands, with higher amounts along the I-95 corridor, from Essex County to Rhode Island, as well as the higher elevations of Worcester County. Snow should end in Western MA between 12-2pm and in the Boston area between 2-4pm. Due to the low temperatures, the snow should be relatively dry and light, but wetter and heavier as you get closer to the Coast.

Winds should be 20-30mph, with gusts of 45+mph, hampering visibility with blizzard-like conditions (between 1/4-1/2 mile at times).

Seas are expected to be between 15-18', so many eastern coastal regions should expect some spashover with minimal coastal flooding or beach erosion issues.

MEMA will continue to monitor the storm, with updates as necessary.
