From the Somerville Journal:

The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority is rehabilitating the 100-year-old water mains that serve portions of Somerville. During the week of April 10, this work may cause discolored water in the areas around Willow Avenue at Broadway and Parkway at Middlesex Avenue.
If discolored water does occur, it will result from a small amount of iron in the pipes. While safe for drinking, cooking and other uses, please note that ironwill stain light-colored items in your laundry, especially when bleach is used. Residents should check water clarity before washing any white or lighter colored laundry during this period of work. Please call MWRA at 617-788-1170 if you have any questions or would like more information.

Hi everyone, please pardon what may be perceived as a solication, but rest assured that it's not. My wife and I moved into Davis Square a few months ago and we've hard a hard time finding our way through the neighborhoods. Who knew that every single intersection in Boston is a square of some sort named after anyone and everyone. I just discovered Livejournal and I thought I'd share what works for us. For students and newcomers looking for local businesses in Davis Square (and other 'squares') check out Citysquares.com. We've found it really useful, especially for finding some of the hidden gems of the neighhborhoods.

Just my 2 cents.

Hi folks,
I was wondering if anybody would be willing to share the amount of their electric bill - ours seems abnormally high (even considering the recent discussion on rate increase). It's a two-floor apartment, and the only thing we have running 24/7 is the fridge, three computers (that go into sleep mode), and a filter for a 20 gal fish tank. We don't have a dryer nor washing machine, so I'm having trouble figuring out what is costing so much.
I also heard that we can get NStar folks to come check out the apt, is this true? And has anybody done this? If so, how was their customer service?
Thanks folks!

There's some graffiti on a mailbox on Grove St. that says "BDUB NOSE FONE". It's been there for a while and I've always wondered what the heck it meant. Anyone have any ideas?

A storefront in the Harvard Vanguard building on Holland Street, which used to contain a cellphone store, now appears to contain some sort of computer-related business. Signs advertise computer repair and computer training courses, but the place doesn't really look open yet. Some of the signs refer to ntai.net (Network Technology Academy Inc.), whose website looks less than fully professional. Anyone know more?
