The Yerxa Road pedestrian underpass in North Cambridge officially opened yesterday afternoon. It runs under the railroad tracks, from the intersection of Yerxa Road and Pemberton Street to Walden Square.

It is fully accessible to wheelchairs, strollers, and bicycles, and it looks great. It provides a useful shortcut for Davis-area folks to reach Danehy Park, the Fresh Pond shopping center, or Fresh Pond itself.

Sorry to use the bandwidth, but if anyone can recommend a good plumbing/heating contractor in the Svl area, I would appreciate it. I have been approved for the city's heating system replacement program, but they require me to get 2 quotes by Dec 1st and neither of the contractors who were recommended by friends has returned my calls.

thx!!

I'm interested in starting to do some track running. I checked the website for Tufts and couldn't really tell if their outdoor track facility was open to the general public or not. Does anyone know off hand? Or have a suggestion of where to go? I live right in the middle of Ball Square, and obviously since I'm starting an exercise routine, I'm willing to go where ever I need to go.

Also, has anyone been using the public pool at Kennedy? My aunt had told me about it a few months ago, but I never had the opportunity to check it out myself.

Hi!
I'm a Tufts student who's going to be abroad for the spring semester, and I'm having trouble finding someone to sublet my room!

It's a nice little space in a house with 3 other easy-going students (all male, 21), in between Davis and Tufts, though closer to Tufts.

It will be available from mid december through may 31st.
The house has a front porch, back porch, back yard, big basement for storage, living room, foyer, kitchen, pantry.
Water is included in the rent which is $650/month.

if you're interested, my email is Fortunesfool @ gmail . com

(we can talk about the rent, if need be....)

I hope this is okay; I didn't see anything against it on the homepage.

My partner and I are looking for an apartment in the Davis/Porter/Harvard/Central/Kendall Square areas. We currently live with friends on Sycamore Street and are looking to get our own place. We would like someplace relatively quiet, 1-2 bedrooms, $1200, with dishwasher, and will let us have our kitty.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading!

With Alderman Provost's resignation, who will be among the brave that enter the special election? The Somerville Journal is opining that former Ward Six Alderman Jack Connolly and former Alderman-at-Large candidate Marty Martinez will jump into the race. The Somerville News blog suggests that a war of law partners may ensue with both Charles Sillari and Stephen Glines of Sillari & Glines joining the race.

What does everyone think? Could the next alderman-at-large come from Davis Square?
