Hello all. I don't have anything to do with this but I just got an email about it and thought some of you here might be interested since it's happening in Davis Sq.

Apparently resident parking stickers are now supposed to be on the windshield - not the side/rear window as has been the case for many years. I guess this is the first year of the change.

mmm... ok. Looks like I need to go to the traffic dept to prove I put it in the wrong place so I can get a replacement. (yawn).

hi all!

i'm the director/producer and general cat herder for a local band and performance troupe. we're working on costumes for our project, and i thought it would be worth asking the community at large if they could help out. if you can dig through your old clothes and ask your friends and family to do the same, we'd greatly appreciate it. we're mostly looking for men's clothing in any and all sizes.

if things are pretty worn out or beat up, all the better. if these can be subjected to our design whims, awesome! however if you have something that you think might work, but want it untouched (and returned), then we can work with that too. please get in touch to arrange pick up or drop off.

here's what we're looking for:

military and marching band uniforms,
jackets (suit/tuxedo/frock coat/uniforms/etc),
vests,
dress pants and shirts,
hats (bowlers/top hats/helmets/etc)
suspenders,
ties (all kinds),
sashes,
cummerbunds,
patches or pins (weird designs, insignias and such)

thanks!

Hi, I’m writing on behalf of a Davis Square community theatre company that may embark on a national grassroots benefit this fall. One of the criteria to join the national effort is to film our selected scenes (which will amount to about an hour’s worth of film time) and upload the digital content to the national website.

In this regard, I’m looking for someone who is willing to volunteer his/her videography services both for the taping and for the subsequent digital upload.

This would occur in mid-September 2007. Details are still hazy, but we can offer you free advertising in our playbill and (I believe) you will be able to see your name as a credit on the national website.

I can provide more detail via email (see my profile), but I was thinking the best person would be an amateur/novice videographer interested in honing one’s skills.

Thanks!

While looking on the city website for the library hours, I came across this notice:

Board Of Aldermen Sets Calendar For Special Election To Fill At-Large Vacancy

SOMERVILLE – Board of Election Commissioners Chairman Nicholas Salerno announced today the dates and deadlines approved by the Board of Aldermen Thursday for the City’s Special Election for Alderman at Large. The election will be held to fill the Board seat vacated when State Representative Denise Provost resigned on October 26, 2006. The Preliminary Election will be held Tuesday, April 10, 2007, and the Final Election is scheduled for Tuesday, May 15, 2007.

Anyone have any links to the candidates?
