At about 5:30 this morning there were helicopters circling around Elmwood Street. Any idea why? It was very loud and there was practically one over our house.

I am in the market for a new doctor in the area, and wondered if anyone has had any experience with the Marino Center for Progressive Health.  I want a doctor who is open to prevention, natural/alternative health remedies, etc., not someone who is just going to hand me a prescription after talking to me for 2 minutes.  Any input would be great.  Thanks!

so at around 2:30 this morning, i was walking down willow, and i passed a man wearing a wrestling mask and boots. and nothing else.

it's possible he was wearing some very tiny and inconspicuous form of g-string, but i couldn't say for sure because i was busy walking quickly because i was passing an apparently naked and masked man on the sidewalk at 2:30am.

...anyone have any clue what was up with that?

Wood siding contractors

We're looking to replace our vinyl siding with wood siding. Anyone have any quality recommendations for contractors in the Davis Sq area?

Bread & Butter Konvenience [sic] for sale

The Alewife newspaper online reports that the Bread & Butter Konvenience [sic] store, at Mass. Ave. and Day Street, is for sale. Whether it would remain such a store after being sold, I don't know.

I visit the store occasionally, but find it much less well-stocked than the White Hen Pantry that preceded it. So if it goes away in its current form, I won't consider it a huge loss.

Harwood Flooring and/or Carpeting Installation

Has anyone out there had hardwood floors installed? What about carpeting? Can you recommend anyone good for either task?

I've poked around on Angie's List a bit, but I'm looking for further recommendations. I'm brand new to this whole homeowner thing (in fact, I don't even own it yet), so I'll also take advice on how to go about finding tradespeople in general.

Somerville Sunsetters on our streets

The Sunsetters are a large group of teenage kids who sing and dance Broadway show tunes outdoors in neighborhoods all over Somerville. A partial schedule is on the city web site. The schedule is still incomplete, which means you can request that they come to your street.

smoke in the ville

A very strong smell of smoke just came through my windows.  I went outside to find quite a bit of smoke moving up Summer St, looked like it could be coming from either Davis or Porter Sq.  A few of my neighbors also came out because they could smell smoke too.  I live on Summer St and I have not heard any sirens.  Anyone got a clue as to where the smoke is coming from??
