i think the ant overlord army has arrived in davis^2!!

they have established a command post near where I feed my cat in the pantry and since cats (or at least my cat) like to snack rather than clear their plates she doesn't understand why i am not leaving her food out.

i bought those little ant traps and put them around but i can't tell if they are working: the ants still come out if i forget to immediately pick up my cat's dish after feeding her.

anyone have a good idea for a counter assualt? i thought of making an insecticide moat around the cat dish but there may be a few issues with that... i thought of feeding her on a chair but those suckers can probably climb and i don't want to give them ideas.

Has anyone ever parked in the Shaw's parking lot when they're jumping on the T in Porter Square? I stupidly drove into work today, not thinking about how I'm going out straight from here, and unfortunately don't have a Somerville parking permit, or I'd just park over on a side street.

hello, davis square
we've recently moved from minneapolis and we have some questions about our new state:

1. where can i, a woman, get a stylish hair cut without spending a bundle of money, and not stray too far from the porter/davis area or from the tufts area.

2. if we are paying a deposit when we buy pop in plastic bottles, does that mean there are ways to get that deposit back? how does this work?

3. can we get to the IKEA store on the T or by communter rail?

this is the most helpful community i've found concerning our relocation! keep it up, helpful people!

This Saturday I'm going to get my first haircut in the US (I've been getting them before when I was going home -  across the ocean) and I'm a bit nervous. I'm going to go to Salon Cu following all the recommendations from this community and I was wondering how does the tipping work there. I know that I'm supposed to tip 15-20%, but how do I actually do this? Who do I give the money to and at what point?
Thanks a lot!
