The Burren's Brunch

Wanting a change of pace from our usual Ball Square brunch haunts, beowabbit and I tried brunch at The Burren for the first time on Saturday. I always forget it's among the brunch options here, and I think a lot of other people do too because it was almost entirely empty at an hour when there are lines at Soundbites and Kelly's. I can report that we had a very satisfying meal.

Raw Food folks?

I just went raw (YAY!) and I'm frustrated by the lack of raw food options for both restaurants and stores in the area. I can't afford to take the train out to Beverly every time I want to eat out! And I'm wondering if anyone else knows of secret/independent restaurants and stores in the area that wouldn't be obvious that they have a good selection, or just one or two really good things, for a raw diet?

I know that the fresh made juices at Blue Shirt are raw (some of them anyway), and that's been useful and fun. And I just found raw nori (not roasted/toasted) at the Asian market in Union Square. (The Asian market in Porter didn't have it, surprisingly, and the Asian market in Central went out of business.) And I know about the Harvest Coop, Whole Foods, and Cambridge Naturals.

Anyone else raw here? Any other suggestions?

Bus #90 will now run on Sundays to Assembly Square

MBTA bus #90, which runs from Davis Square down Highland Avenue, then to Sullivan Square, Assembly Square, and Wellington, will now run hourly on Sundays, from 10:30 am to 6:30 pm. This will help car-less folks who want to shop at K-mart or other Assembly Square box stores.

Furnish Your Whole Place with What's on Our Old Curb

Many, many items on the curb of our old place at 3 Fairlee Street, near the intersection of Highland and Cherry Street in Somerville. Most items are in fair to good condition--nothing is like new, but it's free, free, free. Here's the list. Please be respectful and quiet, leaving the pile neat, including the mountain of recycling we left behind. Trash collection is early tomorrow, so come tonight and grab what you need.
