Meetup?

Today I met ron_newman to see a marching band, and we had a lot of fun (I, for one, learned a LOT about Davis that I never would have known otherwise, and Ron tolerated my rantings about Warner Home Video with good humor.) He mentioned the idea of having a Davis Square meetup in the course of our discussions

It's up to the mods, of course, but I think this is a great idea. I know b0st0n has '90s Night as their unofficial "come out and meet the folks behind the icons", but that's in Allston and involves, as far as I can tell from attendees, copious amounts of booze. While I'm all for that, I understand some folks might not be. :-)

This could be pretty simple, just meet in front of J.P. Licks or something along those lines, or at a nearby-ish establishment that serves food and drink. How about it, folks, any interest?

Meetup update

OK, so, looking over the comments, I have a rough idea of when to schedule this meetup; sometime on Saturdays.

It looks like Saturday afternoons work somewhat the best, and that next weekend is out because it's Labor Day weekend. So let's start with Saturday 9/8 and let's say 5PM for now. If there are overwhelming objections we can alter it, but that seems like the best time for most of those interested.

As far as WHERE to meet goes, I think meeting outside makes a lot more sense than trying to cram into some local restaurant, so let's say in the plaza in front of J.P. Licks. There's plenty of seating, all sorts of accessible food, and we won't be in anyone's way.

I'd also like to request a co-organizer, just because the weekend of 9/8 I might be working on a local feature film and don't know what my time is going to be (for all I know I'm going to be putting in five hours at 6am.) Any volunteers?

Hey y'all, does anyone have two bedrooms open or is looking to get a new place?

I'm a pagan-kink-poly-glbt-vegetarian-friendly adult (goodness, we need a shorter way of saying that), a full time student, part time peer health coordinator, and mom with half custody of 3 kids. I'm looking for someone moderately sane with a sense of stewardship toward the shared space who understands co-housing as a friendship and not as people simply occupying the same address. Another parent would be ideal but kid-friendly child free folks are great too.

Free Clothes

I just put an open bag of clothing out on the sidewalk, up for grabs. It's ladies' sizes 8-12, mostly stuff that either doesn't fit or never looked good on me to begin with. My neighbor has also put out a bag of mens' clothes. 2nd house from the corner of Bay State Avenue and Broadway.

Local store that sells computers?

I remember hearing about a computer shop near the Kendall area that sold custom PCs. I remember my aunt saying something about getting her computers there, and hearing that it was the store of choice for MIT/Tech Square types.

Does that ring any bells for anyone here? I'm planning to get a new computer and want to check out the prices at the local merchants first.
