I have a broken PS2 (Disc Read Error) and a broken original Xbox (I think it's the DVD drive, it clicks and freezes at the green splash screen). I'm sure they could be repaired or parted by an experience flipper - I just don't really want to spend the time. Would anyone like to barter for them? The PS2 would be the unit only, the Xbox I also have a number of controllers and the assorted cables that I'm willing to let go.

I got slightly screwed by someone on ebay and don't really feel like posting a duplicate auction for 'em. Haven't tried Craigslist yet but I figured I might stay "hyperlocal" if possible. Please reply if you're interested!

Im full of questions lately!

Recommendations for a place to get microdermabrasions done. The woman I used to see in Newton no longer does them. I dont mind traveling if need be.

Good place to get a car inspection done quick and painlessly?

As some of you may have noticed, I've made some changes to this community's profile page.

I added a rule encouraging posters to use the tag system, added a fairly arbitrary set of "Useful Local Links", and edited the "Interests" list, mostly to remove names of defunct businesses and add names of new ones. (I can't quite bring myself to remove "someday cafe" yet, so it's still there.)

Please comment here if you'd like to see any further changes on the profile page -- more or fewer links, more or fewer interests, etc. Have I left out anything important?

I've also been retro-tagging this community, starting from its first post and working my way forward towards the present day. Right now I'm up to June 2006. There sure are a lot of posts about gyms, hair, laundry, and tailors! Once I'm done with this first pass, I'll be asking other folks for input on how to reorganize the current tags -- especially the currently overbroad or overlapping categories such as "local food", "dining", "restaurants", "local businesses", "business services", "civic", "public services", and the like.

Based on previously expressed interest, I've invited [livejournal.com profile] elements, [livejournal.com profile] prunesnprisms, and [livejournal.com profile] enochs_fable to join the tagging effort. (And you too, [livejournal.com profile] laurenhat, if you're still interested.) If you want to participate in a detailed discussion of tagging, please use the [livejournal.com profile] davis_meta community, to avoid boring everyone else.

Hi, Posting for a friend...

She hasn't driven in awhile and still has her license, but she feels very uneasy about the idea of driving without taking some refresher lessons.. I have taken her out driving and really she just needs confidence, but I don't have the time to do it again as I am really busy of late.

Does anyone know of a good driving school in the Somerville/Cambridge area?

Thanks!

I have a ton of cardboard to be recycled -- unfortunately it's not in box form or I'd just save it all.

I looked on the city website and can't find anything about a drop off place for cardboard.  There's a drop off place for other paper, but it expressly says no cardboard.

The cardboard is enough to fill an SUV, so it's not the type of thing I can just leave by the curb (I think).  Any hints about what to do with it???

so what is it just for then..?

Battle of the Uber-Pharmacies?
Bankers Row?
The place where chain restaurants come to do meager business?

Hi all,

I have a flute that is needing some routine maintenance and some minor repairs. Does anyone have a music store recommendation in the area? Ideally, I'd like a place that specializes in a variety of orchestra instruments and not just piano/guitar.

Thanks!
