BSC? When will it open?

I just went to the Back Bay BSC during lunch and inquired about D. Square location. Here what I found out

Opening date got pushed due to elevator issues

They don't have a pool

and they are not 24 hrs..

So does anyone have an idea on when they will be opened? BB didn't give me a definate answer...

Cop cars behind the Dilboy

Every time I walk up Summer Street, day or night, I see at least 2 Somerville Cop cars parked in the lot behind the Dilboy VFW.   There are always cops sitting in the cars with the engines running or standing next to the cars chatting and often at night they are taking a leak on the fence in the back corner (I've seen that enough to know it ain't no anomaly).   What's the deal?  Don't Somerville Cops have real crime to fight?

And while we're talking stupid cop tricks, why do the cops drive up the bike path in their cruisers?  Get a cop bike, dammit!    I've almost been taken out a few times when I wasn't expecting a car to drive up behind me. 

Appliance Problem

One of my major appliances in my apartment broke a while back and the building owner and management company really dropped the ball on replacing it. They made mistakes all along the way and I had to police the whole process.

Upon the last problem (but before the appliance was finally here), I told the owner that I would take a certain amount of money off of my rent for next month for all of my trouble. They said that wasn't fair and that there was nothing they could have done (not true); I asked them what they think is fair, assuming they would ask me to subtract less, but they said that I deserve nothing. I have emails with this person in which they apologize for (and, therefore, acknowledge) their mistakes in this process.

Is there anything I can do? What will happen if I do take off a certain amount of money from my rent? Is there some sort of tenants' rights association or website I can consult for info?

any good recipes for under-ripe mattress ?

I had to buy a Real Mattress following back surgery.  it got about 3 months of nice, respectful use before it wasn't needed any longer (prefer the futon) and was relegated to the attic.  now i want space in the attic more than i want a nearly-new mattress.  goodwill, salvation army, and the boys-girls club all told me on the phone that they don't take them.  the idea of throwing it out is breaking my  hippy-dippy, recycle-reuse heart.

anyone got any other ideas ?  anyone want it ??  it's an "olympic queen" - 66" × 80".   no box-spring, no frame.  located in magoun sq.

only saw the sign driving by but in the block of stores where the cupcake place is - one of the empty store fronts has a sign with "When Pigs Fly" and "opening soon" and "fresh bread". Could be a joke

OR it could be that there will FINALLY be a place in Davis to buy decent bread. Yay!

(and then I can go to BSC to work off the carbs. See, the creator has a master plan...)
