Just in case any of you happen to be considering wandering through the middle of Tufts' campus tonight at say, 10 pm, please be warned you will encounter a large number of drunken students at the top of Walnut Hill with a smaller, but no less drunk, group of naked youngsters...both sexes.  Tonight is Tufts' Naked Quad Run...oh, I'm sorry.  It's officially the "Nighttime Quad Reception" featuring music, free donuts and  hot chocolate and the TU Police Dept. looking the other way while students run around the Rez Quad repeatedly.

It all makes for a good show, but be prepared to receive a "townie" insult or two if you look over the age of 25.  If you show up naked, you will probably garner some decent measure of respect from the students.

And if any of you have Tufts neigbors, expect some level of drunkeness into the wee hours (no pun intended) of the morning.

Hi everyone. I am officially looking for a new roommate. My current roommate is moving centrally westwards (for lurve and academia) and vacating one half of a kick-ass apartment.

Main details:
-- $1100/month ($550/each)
-- Clarendon Hill neighborhood (e-mail me for exact address)
-- Move-in date of 1/16 or 2/1.
-- Month-to-month lease (nice for flexibility)
-- second floor apartment/complete second floor flat in a 2-family house with cool downstairs tenants
-- Rooms: vacant room is 10x12 with a large closet. Apartment includes two bedrooms, "great room" (large dining room plus living room space), a shared office, bathroom and huuuuge kitchen. Also, front and back porches and plenty of basement storage.
-- Utilities: gas heat (not included) with brand new boiler just installed, electricity (about $60/month), cable+cable internet+landline ($110/month, flexible on scaling this down)
-- I have one 2.5 year-old male tuxedo cat (Mr. Schneebly). More pets are ok but if you do have a cat, we should probably do some "compatibility testing" first as he can be kind of bratty.

More info, right this way! )

Eliot Pattison will be at Kate's Mystery Books (2211 Mass. Ave) on Thursday Dec 13th, 6-7:30pm. He'll be discussing his latest Tibetan mystery 'Prayer of the Dragon', which features shan Tao Yun and a young Navajo researcher trying to prove the connection between her people and Tibet. He is an outstanding author and it's a major event to have him here in our community.

From the Somerville Journal website:

Thibeault Hughes Fire Relief Fund now accepting donations

Somerville - They’ve lost everything in Thursday night’s fire. But you can help.

A fund has been set up for the Thibeault and Hughes families that resided at 9-11 Harvard Place.

Elaine Thibeault, 69, and son Bryan Thibeault, 50, were seriously injured in the fire. Daughter Tracy Hughes who lived on the other side of the building with husband Joe and daughter Halle escaped unharmed, but with almost nothing to their names.

Give them your generosity. You can contribute by going to any Citizens Bank and asking to help The Thibeault Hughes Fire Relief Fund. Checks and cash are accepted, as are wire transfers. Credit card advances may also be deposited into the fund.

Citizens Bank has locations in Davis Square (212 Elm St.), Winter Hill (338 Broadway) and Union Square (40 Union Square).

For those of you interested in the night club/theater in Davis Square, I have a simple annotated budget ready. At this point, it's very likely that all of the first round financing shares will be gone before the business plan is finished. The annotated budget I've been sending to people seems to be enough for some of them.
