Somerville News article on Sacco's Bowl-Haven closing

This week's Somerville News has an article on the upcoming spring closing of Sacco's Bowl-Haven. I mention the article here because it quotes from this LiveJournal community. It's pretty evident that the Sacco family wants to get out of the bowling business.

Reporter Elizabeth Bernardi was unable to get a response from Trish Blain, despite my best efforts to connect them to each other. Trish, if you're reading this, please let everyone know what the current plan is.

Russians around Davis Square

Hi. I recently moved to the Davis Sq. area. I'm a native English speaker, but I'm interested in practicing my Russian with people in the area. I was thinking of a setup like this:

- We meet at a cafe or bar
- We chat in Russian for an hour or so, hopefully helping me out as we go along
- I pay for the food and drinks

I've taken four years of university instruction, but sadly haven't been to Russia, so my skill level is somewhere between intermediate and advanced.

If you speak Russian at a near-fluent or fluent level and are interested, let me know (in the comments, or email afader at gmail).

Boloco Mystery Solved! Pepper Speaks...

Our good friend “ron_newman” wrote a post yesterday entitled:  “Boloco for sale?  Anyone know more?” 

 

Ron.  I do.  And you knew I’d eventually get on here when I had a few minutes to spare.

 

First, let’s clear the air: Boloco at Davis is for sale.  But before we call CNN, let’s have some fun with this, if we can (go get a cup of coffee at Diesel before you read further… it’s long, but only because i had 95 posts to respond to)

Matt wasn’t speaking of Boloco, but I’m hoping he'll now say the same for us... there is a  good chance we’ll be able to stay if more people visit us.  It really is that simple.   So... please do come visit us… today, tomorrow, the next day… and if you do, we’ll be there to welcome you for a long time to come.
