My appeal of a bogus parking ticket was denied. 311 just told me that there is no other way to appeal it further and that it would need to go to the court system. Is this really true? (I have previously read posts on this forum where people suggest "you should appeal it again", etc..)
Thanks, Glen

So, my employer belongs to this out-of-state parent company with a HR department who often forgets about us. This year they switched to a more obscure insurance company (HealthPartners) and I'm having an annoying time finding a PCP -- seems that all the good folks (Harvard Vanguard, Marino Center) aren't part of this network.

Am wondering if anybody here has a itty-bitty "CIGNA" icon on their insurance cards (with a little tree) and can recommend a location and/or doctor.

Thank you!

Update: Called Harvard Vanguard, unfortunately HealthPartners isn't on the CIGNA hit list. The search continues...

Free fish to good home(s):

4 female guppies, offspring of two blue fancy guppies
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guppy

2 white clouds
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Cloud_Mountain_Minnow

Current home: 7-year-running 20-gallon planted tank.

How come?
Guppies were making fry like rabbits, these were the remaining fish after a grab-fest of aquaria-happy friends.
White clouds are a bit more aggressive then we were led to believe - they beat up (chew) on the guppies. I put them in time-out, but feel guilty about the tight space.

Pick-up only, please, we're located between Davis/Porter, near Shaw's, off Orchard. Please leave a message with your e-mail address and I will send info. I will keep updating this thread with status of this give-away.

Thanks!

The Progressive Democrats of Somerville are holding our monthly general meeting tomorrow, June 24, at 7:30 pm at the College Avenue United Methodist Church on Chapel Street.

As always, all are welcome! This meeting will feature our endorsement process for State Representative candidates in the 34th and 35th Middlesex Districts. You can check out the candidates' questionnaires in advance on the PDS website.

Timing note: We moved our meeting to start a little later than usual so interested people can attend the Union Square Zoning Meeting that starts at 6pm.

Erica
PDS membership chair

PS - After the meeting, we're planning to head down to JP Licks for ice cream, and maybe a few of us will even head over to trivia night at PJ Ryan's in Teele.

Not necessarily together, just in general.

I'm a big Tori Amos fan and tomorrow I'm going to interview her (over the phone). I'm super-excited and thought it'd be fun to celebrate with another Tori fan afterwards, but I don't know any local Tori fans who are available for mid-day cocktails. If you are one of them and would like me to buy you a drink and we can geek out, send me a message or comment w/ contact info. If you are just somebody who would like a free drink, then you'll have to wait until a special occasion just for that.

ETA: Ok, the Tori + Beer* fest will be at Redbones at noonish, upstairs. If I'm late, drink amongst yourselves. I look like a curvy version of Tori, so I should be easy enough to spot, and I'll probably have a confused look on my face. I'm not as rich as Tori, so I'll just sponsor the drinking of the first respondent, rhi_chan.

*Beer drinkers and spectators alike welcome

Circuit Bending with Jimmie P. Rodgers
June 28th, 5-9pm
Donations Welcome

Join us for the second Willoughby and Baltic circuit bending workshop on the 28th of June from 5 - 9 (ish). The first event was a smashing sucsess, and there is an obvious interest in the area for bending. Make sure to check out the spot that was featured on Share.tv about it. In following up with requests, we will be having a part swap and Jam in addition to a longer theory and practical example session. It will all around be a much longer event, hopefully with more projects that go to completion. Please bring anything you've been working on as well, and share with the group.
Much more info after the cut... )
