A family member in the Spring Hill area of Somerville has been 'adopted' by a stray cat they're calling Rocky (although they've been told it's a she-cat),   She's a tiger cat, beautiful, very clean, and seems to have been well cared for.   She's very friendly and affectionate, and appears to be pretty young.  They have been unable to locate the owner and can't keep her due to severe cat allergies.  If anyone out there is looking for a lost cat, or is interested in adopting a very friendly cat, please respond!  We hope to be able to find her a good home!

There's tents and about a hundred folding chairs set up in the park by Powderhouse circle.

Anybody know what they're celebrating?

I'm going to the Union Square Square Dance this evening and from there to the meet-up at the Burren, traveling by bicycle, so if anyone else has similar plans, we could caravan back from Union to Davis. (Then you can laugh at me struggling to get up the hill to Teele after all the drinking.)

Hope to see some of y'all at the hoedown and at the Burren. After all, nothing tops off an evening of do-si-do-ing like beer and friends at an Irish pub.

(This post can also be considered last-minute reminders for both events. :)

Hi,

I'm moving to Somerville from Burlington, VT. I was thrilled to see this live journal community - makes the move considerably less daunting. I was hoping people might have good advice for me. I'm interested in joining any sort of existing craft clubs (knitting, sewing, beadwork, ribbon embroidery, clothing, felting, etc.), cooking clubs (I make wonderful challah, apple pie, chocolate chip banana bread), belly dancing classes (I saw some other posts on that subject that I need to check out in more detail) and I'm also looking for a teacher for beginner Celtic Harp. I'd be interested in starting little craft or movie or cooking or even costume clubs (i'm a face painter) if there's an interest. I love meeting new people and I hope this move will prove to be a fantastic decision.

Thanks! Dinah

Oh man. I just read this story on Consumerist which involves the Davis Sq location of When Pigs Fly. Having just witnessed my husband break a tooth not too long ago, I figured it would be worth a heads up.

Speaking of When Pigs Fly, I was psyched to see they've opened a location in Coolidge Corner as well. I think their bread is amazing! (If you haven't tried it: chocolate bread = major yumminess)
