Not directly related to Davis Square, but arguably relevant because of this post. Mods, if you don't agree, please delete.

As part of their Science on Screen series, Coolidge Corner Theater will be showing Theremin: An Electronic Odyssey Monday, January 19 at 7:00PM.

Copious details behind the cut )

Edit: D'oh! I just saw that information about this was posted at the end of the original Theremin thread.

My car fell victim to a smash-and-grab a few days ago before the last storm. This morning I discovered the car full of snow and broken glass and with a shattered driver's side window.

It was parked at about 40 Packard Ave. around the corner from Ossipee Rd. There was nothing valuable inside to steal but that didn't stop the thieves from searching the center console and strewing my belongings everywhere.

Thank you to the good samaritan who attempted to put a trash bag in the window to keep out the snow. It didn't really work but I greatly appreciate the effort.

One other note: Giant Glass told me they couldn't fix my car's window until next Wednesday due to high demand after recent storms. JN Phillips in Arlington was able to make an appointment for late this afternoon.

There once was a bar call Orleans
Where patrons play music with ease
On Sundays at 9
It don't cost them a dime
To play Rock Band - they tear up the scene*!

*This Sunday at 9pm, come play Rock Band at Orleans Bar, 65 Holland Street, Davis Square, Somerville. Yes, the Rock Band is free. No, there's not really a scene.

Two raccoons foraging their way down Newberne St. toward Davis. We regarded each other -- they with bored indifference, I with mild amusement -- before proceeding on our respective ways. Somebody's trash cans will be their dinner; best that it not be yours.
