For your consideration (and for those with nothing better to do, mockery), I offer you a vision of a better Somerville:

A human centered town.

and

Bringing a street to life, in NYC.

I don't imagine Somerville will be up for this sort of thing for a long time. We'll probably have to wait until Generation Circus comes into political power, locally, before the streets are reclaimed, more permanently, for joyful living. So for now, those of us who long for more truly livable streets, can just enjoy our one day of Art Beat, and be happy that we have sidewalks and tiny plazas here and there that let the humans be mostly free to live. :-)

If you have a registered Boloco card, be on the lookout for an email notifiying you of a  free Memphis BBQ Burrito added to your card.  A column for the product shows up right now on your online account (with a zero in the number available slot) and I have it from the highest sources (a tweet from the CEO) that something will be coming next week.

If you don't have a card, get one at Boloco (closest to Davis Sq. is now on Boston Ave. by Tufts).  Buy something or put some money on it like a gift card and then register it online.  They give you a birthday burrito and various freebies at other times of the year.  If you buy enough stuff using it as a customer card (like at CVS), you get points to use on more freebies.

The Tufts Boloco needs the business since the students are gone and they are worried about closing this one, too.

Before I go out and buy one, does anyone here have an aloe vera plant that has gotten too big and they were planning on dividing it?

I've always wanted one; now I want to try cooking with it; and I know that they can grow like crazy so I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. :)

Spider John Koerner w/ Elizabeth Butters

Doors 7:45, Concert 8:00

Suggested minimum donation $15

"SPIDER" JOHN KOERNER has been an influential practitioner of traditional folk music and country blues since the days of the late-'50s/early-'60s folk revival. Both in his group, Koerner, Ray & Glover, and on his own, he has helped popularize early folk and blues music through his performances and recordings, directly affecting the careers of Bob Dylan and Bonnie Raitt, and influencing many others.

ELIZABETH BUTTERS doesn't feel like she fits in this time period. Her answer to this quandary is an aesthetic and aural leap backward—not to the '90s, or the '80s, but much, much farther. Butters says that she identifies most strongly with the 1930s, when Ford Model T's still rumbled and paved roads were at a premium.

I know this is just outside of Davis, but I thought someone in this community might be interested.  This is my boss' house, and he is not getting a great response from craigslist. If this post is better suited for a different community, kindly let me know and I will remove it and repost elsewhere.  Thanks!

The thief took two of two Rue plants that I had two weeks ago and within the past 24 hours, took one of three Sea Thrift plants in the same area. I removed the other two so that he/she doesn't take them all (I'm already out $25). Just a warning to other gardeners. And if you see anyone removing plants from any of the bikepath gardens, consider asking them what they're doing!  There are a number of devoted gardeners on the path who spend a lot of money and time making it more beautiful. Thanks.

DARBI (Davis Area Residents and Business Initiative) will be hosting our third networking lunch on Weds, 6/10 at Noon. Lunch will include a variety of delicious, freshly prepared salads and sandwiches, (with many veggies offerings), coffee, and beverage. There is also a toddler/preschool play area in eye and ear shot of our eating area. Open to all - members $8 non-members $10. Please RSVP to Candy at D2DCommunications@gmail.com

This month's event will feature a guest speaker (at about 12:30) - Joe Grafton from Somerville Local First - and he will offer an overview of the various social networking sites and how entrepreneurs, arts, consultants (i.e. everyone!) can use these sites to promote their art, services, etc. Joe is a smart guy and a dynamic speaker. He just came back from his important and successful Shift Across America tour so he may talk a bit about that as well.

We hope to see you - and your friends and neighbors!

I checked - they have a new days/hours sign, and now it's 7:00 every day except Sunday (which I think was 5:00).

I've got a block of tofu freezing and awaiting my culinary genius. I can do this...
