I know it's a longshot, but I was wondering if anyone saw my black Chevy Blazer parked outside 120 College Ave get side-swiped during the daytime on Thursday June 4th between 8-30 a.m. to 6-30 p.m.

It looks from the high scrape on the driver's side door as though it may have been a truck, SUV or bus which also hit the side view mirror and front left wheel of my car very hard (as the tire is now crooked and the alignment is wrecked).

They didn't leave a note and I was just hoping someone might have seen something. Please contact me or the Somerville Police if you can help, as I'd be really grateful, thanks!

I'm cleaning off our front porch, so there's some free stuff on the porch of 204 Cedar St. NOTE: this stuff is not in good condition and has sat outside for at least one, if not more, winters. I'm putting it out with the trash tomorrow but "one man's trash", etc.

* Two office chairs, significant sun bleaching and dirty but functional
* One very crappy, very heavy Murray mountain bike, sized for a small woman
* One A/C window unit, probably ~8K-10K BTU, ugly as sin but should still work

We got the urge to play some pool today, and then realized that we're not exactly sure where we should go to satisfy said urge.

And so, I reach out to the community. Where in the general Medford / Somerville area is the best place for a game of billiards? Close is good, cheap is better :-)

There is a Nordic Track Treadmill on the curb on Bromfield Road for any takers. I know it turns on when plugged in, otherwise I don't know what kind ofshape it's in.

There is also a decent small armchair.

EDIT: Iris are gone. Enjoy!

I'm making some space in my garden and dug out a bunch of bearded iris. They're in plastic bags under the Japanese maple tree next to my driveway on William Street at the corner of Chandler St (purple house, hard to miss). In case you're a new gardener and want to give these a try, they need a sunny spot, and should be planted with the rhizome (fleshy root) at or just under the soil level. They're kind of a two-tone purple with veining, see below for picture. (Just to be clear, these have already bloomed this year, but will bloom again next spring.)

Just an FYI and warning to all, we got a call today from someone claiming to be with the SPD asking whether we were interested in joining in their fundraiser. Apparently, we were supposed to write a check, and they would come pick it up. Our bull-sh*t detector went way off the charts, and we told them no way, but decided to email our alderman to give him the heads-up.

He got back to us right away and said that he also got the call, and checked it out with the SPD, who said it wasn't them. So, since I haven't seen anything about this in the Journal or "News", I thought I'd at least put it out on the wire here. FYI, the call shows up on caller ID as "Unknown" which was our first tip-off that it wasn't legitimate.

PS- I'm not sure how to tag this, suggestions welcome!

A single payer system is publicly funded health care, privately delivered. Legislation in Congress and in the Massachusetts legislature would establish universal comprehensive coverage at a lower cost than the current patchwork of public and private plans.

On Monday, June 22, Dr. Rachel Nardin, President of the Mass. chapter of Physicians for a National Health Plan, will present information about Single Payer and a community discussion will follow at the Somerville Library (Main Branch) at 7 PM.
