Hi everyone,

I'm excited to be relocating to Davis Square from the midwest next month. When my roommate and I were exploring the area on a recent trip, we weren't able to find any grocery stores or markets. We were on a stressful apartment-hunting trip, so we could have completely missed them.

We'll be living right by the T, so if anyone can let me know where we can get our groceries in the area, that would be great. I checked the tags, but didn't have much luck there.

Anything else we need to know about the area?

Thanks in advance!

edit: Important info - I will not be bringing a car.

Cross-posted to many Boston and Camberville groups, as well as my personal LJ.

Singularity, our amazing Porter Square apartment, is looking for one more friendly, responsible, geeky housemate to fill out the apartment as of 9/1/2009! Do those terms fit you or someone you know? If so, please contact us!

Since this seems to be of interest: Here's a placeholder to discuss the MA Fair Housing Statute, specifically as it applies to housing ads made in this area.

I'm posting this to give people a chance to discuss the merits and flaws in a place designed for it rather than on my housing post. To those who were offended by my indicating we were less interested in tenants with children, I apologize and have changed the wording. To those who felt it was fine, well, ok.

Either way, could this discussion happen here rather than on my housing post? I'd prefer people not pass my post by because they see a lot of comments and assume it's interest in the apartment rather than discussion of the statue.

Thanks!

I've replied to a couple of craigslist ads for apartments (OK I'M DUMB SORRY) and so far only one has been legit. I used the service for my last apartment search and it seemed fine then. The rest have been scammers! A couple were the same person using different names and trying to get you to use this website for a "credit check". Two others just STRAIGHT up tell you they're a guy in Nigeria and will send you the keys in the mail.

So short of parsing through the scams on craigslist, is there another website that is good for looking for apartments?

(Sorry if this isn't the right place to ask)

They start at around 9. And Broadway is closed for a while, too.

Happy belated Birthday USA! :-)
